About the Role

This is a part-time, reduced-year position: 30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.

We are seeking 4 Learning Support Assistants to join our team. This role requires an experienced SEND professional to lead through a matrix management approach across Luminate FE colleges for the placement and support of students with Educational Health Care Plans. This will include physically supporting students within the classroom, helping with personal care, and, at times, pushing a wheelchair. Additionally, you will be an operational main point of contact with local authorities and contribute to positive outcomes for disadvantaged and vulnerable students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support within the classroom and off-site visits.
  • Help provide support for students with additional needs, including essential wheelchair users, hearing impairments, and visual impairments.
  • Be involved in planning, preparation, and assessment of learning as part of the course team.
  • Provide in-class support to meet the needs of students who have high needs.
  • Provide curriculum teachers/assessors and Learning Support team members with verbal and written reports on students who have high needs or SEN.
  • Assist with emergency evacuation plans and practices, and help with all emergency evacuations.
  • Keep accurate and timely records, recording progress and strategies used, as required.

About You

  • You must have English and Mathematics at Level 2/GCSE grade C/level 3 or above.
  • You must have relevant experience, knowledge, and understanding of working in the sector, including personal care and supporting students who use wheelchairs.
  • You must be IT literate.
  • You must have excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with staff/students at all levels in the college.
