Job Overview

The Property Recoveries team at DAC Beachcroft is part of our Claims Solutions Group. Our specialist team provides expert and practical advice on a range of areas, including:

  • Subrogated property, casualty, and travel recoveries
  • Uninsured loss recoveries
  • International recoveries
  • Recovery of overpayments and duplicate payments

We are currently seeking an experienced paralegal to join our team and contribute to the success of our clients. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of cases, including fast and intermediate track cases, and develop your skills and expertise in recoveries investigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage a full caseload of pre-litigated and litigated files to ensure deadlines are met and cases are managed proactively to conclusion
  • Develop and implement clear case strategies to balance the commercial interests of both the firm and the client
  • Apply appropriate and current technical expertise and case law to ensure cases are run smoothly and efficiently
  • Manage risk and compliance issues within each case, escalating any emerging problems to the line manager
  • Engage with clients to maximize opportunities to meet and build rapport, acting as an ambassador for the firm
  • Contribute to business development and client relationship activity in support of the account manager

Requirements

  • LLB or equivalent degree in law, or Cilex qualification and relevant legal experience
  • Interest in and willingness to learn the technical aspects of recoveries investigation
  • IT literacy, with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office and previous knowledge or experience of a case management system
  • Good organization skills, able to work to deadlines and prioritize own workload
  • High standard of written and oral communication skills
  • Confident negotiator
  • Team-oriented and collegiate, with a willingness to share knowledge and support other members of the team
  • Excellent relationship and client handling skills
  • Ability to adopt a commercial perspective rather than an 'academic' approach to claims settlement
