We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Biomedical Scientist to join our Blood Transfusion team. As a key member of our laboratory, you will be responsible for supervising the blood transfusion laboratories and assisting in the development of staff within a progressive department.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and driven individual who is passionate about making a difference in Blood Transfusion Sciences. You will work closely with our Blood Transfusion Laboratory Manager, Transfusion Practitioners, and Consultant Pathologists to deliver a high-quality, safe, and efficient Blood Transfusion Service that prioritizes patient care and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise the blood transfusion laboratories and assist in the development of staff.
- Collaborate with the Blood Transfusion Laboratory Manager, Transfusion Practitioners, and Consultant Pathologists to deliver a high-quality Blood Transfusion Service.
- Participate in the development of staff within a progressive department.
- Ensure compliance with ISO15189 systems and standards.
- Contribute to the 24/7 rota for the Blood Sciences Laboratory.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
- IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma (Haematology/Blood Transfusion) / MSc in Biomedical Sciences / FIBMS status.
- Evidence of ongoing CPD.
- Sound knowledge of Blood Transfusion practice underpinned by theoretical and practical experience.
- Competence and problem-solving in an automated environment.
- Awareness of current professional issues.
- Familiarity with ISO15189 systems and standards.
- Broad understanding of Quality Control, good Quality Management, and Audit knowledge.
- Good practical knowledge of health and safety issues, including COSHH, fire regulations, and risk assessments.
