About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Officer to join our team at The Lines Between. As a Research Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of qualitative research and analysis for our growing portfolio of client accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the recruitment of research participants and gather and review documents for evidence reviews.
  • Assist with the development of research tools, such as surveys and discussion guides, and arrange and carry out interviews.
  • Support the delivery of focus groups and transcription processes, and contribute to business development through developing proposals, pitches, and social media posts.
  • Produce draft sections of reports, presentations, and case studies to a high standard, including proofreading.
Requirements
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • At least two years' work-based research or consultancy experience, ideally in social research.
  • Excellent social skills and experience of engaging diverse participants in research.
  • Experience of supporting delivery across a range of research projects.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, including an ability to communicate complex issues and ideas in an accessible and engaging way.
  • Excellent planning and time-management skills.
  • Critical reading, review, and analysis skills, honed through experience of working with a range of qualitative data.
  • Pro-active and flexible approach to task delivery.
  • Willingness to develop within the role, learn from feedback, and work with new tools.
  • Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with an ability to contribute effectively and constructively within a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and logical approach to information gathering and analysis.
  • Capacity to work across multiple projects with different deadlines.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to deliver on time and within budget.
  • Good understanding of the public sector and third sectors in Scotland.
  • Ability to quickly understand the context and constraints that affect our clients.
  • A full driving license and access to a car.
