Overview:

The Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth is seeking an experienced Cardiac Physiologist to fill the position of Lead. This is a leadership role that requires strong clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage resources effectively.

Salary:

The estimated salary for this position is £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Job Description:

  1. Service Management: The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the day-to-day running of the diagnostic service, managing resources in line with service requirements.
  2. Service Development: They will also lead the service development and continued growth of the service, working closely with the Head of Cardiology to achieve this goal.
  3. Team Leadership: As part of their duties, they will conduct department meetings, staff 1:1s, and staff appraisals to ensure the team is functioning effectively.
  4. Reporting and Audits: They will work with the Head of Cardiology to deliver end-of-month financial reporting, KPI dashboard, and audits, ensuring the service is operating within agreed standards.
  5. Investigations and Reporting: The successful candidate will participate in cardiac investigations within their own skill base, maintaining a working knowledge of all services, including administrative duties.
  6. Independent Work: They will perform tests and provide reports independently without direct supervision, adhering to BSE, SCST, and NICE guidelines and hospital policies.
  7. Clinical Expertise: It is essential that they maintain expertise in cardiac resuscitation procedures as per established policies and ensure the safe use of complex cardiology testing equipment to guarantee patient and personal safety.
  8. Quality Control: They will implement quality controls and assurance in accordance with agreed standards, cleaning cardiology equipment in accordance with the hospital infection control policy on the cleaning of biohazards.
  9. Follow-up Lists: The successful candidate will manage pacemaker follow-up lists, conducting annual reviews as advised in line with MHRA.
  10. Technical Reports: They will write technical reports for relevant investigations and participate in the development and implementation of policies and protocols within the department of cardiology and in Echo-related policies.
  11. Research and Audit: They will undertake research and clinical audit in conjunction with physicians and manager, assisting the Cardiologist in theatres with DC cardioversions when required.
  12. Standards and Rating: The successful candidate will ensure that the standard of work is maintained to support the hospital's rating with the CQC and help the hospital achieve an Outstanding rating.
