Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Weight Management Engineer to join our team at Morson Talent. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing specialist weight management support to our submarine and surface ship programs.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong technical skills and experience in weight management. You will work closely with naval architects, production teams, and other stakeholders to ensure the weight and center of gravity of our vessels meet stringent safety and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist weight management design support to all current programs for submarines and surface ships.
  • Undertake weight management tasks in support of the company's programs for submarines and surface ships.
  • Calculate and monitor weights and centers from the concept phase to delivery, using CAD computer systems to prepare data for technical and production departments.
  • Produce evidence in support of qualification, legislative requirements, and safety justifications, and provide specialist support for associated activities.
  • Undertake peer reviews or checking/verification tasks as directed.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline, such as mechanical engineering or naval architecture.
  • Strong technical skills and experience in weight management, including knowledge of naval architecture aspects related to weight, buoyancy, and stability.
  • Experience with CAD computer systems and Windows-based applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate and present technical arguments clearly, logically, and simply.
  • Nuclear baseline training as per the requirements of the role.
