Job Title: Aftersales Applications Engineer

As a key member of the Linxon UK Engineering Team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective operation of projects and the design of control and protection systems for transmission and distribution networks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop secondary systems, control, and protection systems up to 400kV to meet contract requirements.
  • Prepare and verify designs, including SLD, KLD, AC & DC distribution systems, battery and battery chargers sizing, voltage drop, cable sizing, signal lists, setting calculation, interface lists, cable block diagrams, multicore & fiber optic cable schedules, and cables core sheets.
  • Specify CTs & VTs in terms of electrical characteristics and physical size.
  • Approve supplier designs for a wide range of equipment and packages, including data sheets, loads consumption, scheme drawings, circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams, etc.
  • Support PreFAT / FAT and commissioning activities.
  • Provide technical support for tendering, working within defined budgetary objectives, and assisting in preparing proposals and presentations for engineering projects.
  • Offer a flexible approach to work tasks and be prepared to work additional hours when necessary to ensure the successful delivery of the project.
  • Participate in design and hazard review meetings, ensuring design risk assessments/HAZIDs are in place for all design solutions and residual risks are passed on to the H&S file.
  • Positively influence design and construction safety performance and aim for zero accidents.
  • Coordinate with the client, project management, primary and civil engineering teams, as well as other interfaces, to ensure the delivery of high-quality technical outputs within the agreed delivery timescales and budget.
Requirements:
  • Minimum qualification of a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical or electronics engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in transmission and distribution (ranging from 11kV to 400kV).
  • Experience as a Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE) / Lead Contractor Design Approval Engineer (LCDAE), as defined by National Grid's NG/ET/SR188 procedure will be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in generating and comprehensive understanding of engineering design, particularly in secondary engineering for GIS and AIS substations.
  • Understanding / Knowledge of Distribution Network Operator / National Grid etc.
  • Working knowledge of Windows, MS Office, Amtech & Autocad.
