About the Role

Abbott is seeking an experienced Occupational Health Specialist to join our team in the East Midlands region. As an Occupational Health Specialist, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to managers and employees on health and safety matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct health surveillance and medical assessments for employees in the rail industry, including Train Driver Medicals and Safety Critical medicals.
  • Provide advice and support to managers and supervisors on risk assessments and health matters affecting their staff.
  • Develop and implement procedures and solutions to address key health issues.
  • Work closely with HR, Health & Safety professionals, and occupational health partners to ensure a comprehensive approach to health and safety.
  • Travel between sites to conduct assessments and provide support.

Requirements

  • Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Occupational Health, with evidence of continual professional development.
  • Qualification in Hand Arm Vibration and experience of collecting samples for drug and alcohol testing using chain of custody protocols.
  • Ability to conduct medicals/surveillance, including audiometry, spirometry, skin assessment, HAVS, and safety critical medicals.
  • Experience in the rail industry to undertake Train Driver Medicals with additional training.
  • Ability to work closely and effectively with HR, Health & Safety professionals, and occupational health partners.
  • Ability to identify key health issues and assist in the development and provision of procedures and solutions.
  • Business insurance and ability to travel between sites.
  • Competence in the use of computers, including Microsoft and Excel software.
