Metadata Specialist

Role Overview

The Metadata Innovator plays a pivotal role in delivering the Library's Metadata Strategy, working closely with the Content and Collections Manager to support the Library's operations and practice. This includes managing metadata creation, management, and dissemination functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage strategic and operational activities to create, reuse, share, and disseminate metadata relating to Library collections, the University's research and researchers, and Monash identifiers.
• Evaluate and implement strategic solutions to maximize the impact and value of metadata for Monash researchers, identities, and collections managed by the Library.
• Develop relationships with content providers, platforms, consortia, standards, and global initiatives on behalf of the Library to optimize and disseminate metadata that connects users to Monash content and collections.
• Provide leadership to the Metadata Team and Research Output Collections Services (ROCS) team in delivering high-level professional services and achieving the Library's priorities.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Excellent skills in relationship building and communications
• Able to motivate and develop staff
• Possess expertise in metadata strategy and implementation
• Familiarity with digital preservation standards and practices

Estimated Salary: $102,120 - $112,722 per annum HEW Level 08
