We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our SEMH school. As an ex-Prison Officer, you will have the opportunity to bring your skills in managing challenging behaviour to a positive and nurturing environment.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping young people with SEMH challenges achieve their potential.

About the Position

The successful candidate will work closely with students who are unable to access mainstream schools due to their SEMH needs. You will be responsible for supporting these students in overcoming barriers to learning and behaviour.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Behaviour Intervention: Develop and implement tailored behaviour support plans to help students manage their emotions.
  • Student Guidance: Provide guidance and support for students' social and emotional development.
  • School Safeguarding: Adhere to school policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
  • Collaboration: Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for students.
  • Liaising with Teachers: Collaborate with teachers to support the learning and engagement of students in lessons.
Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in a challenging environment such as a prison setting.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgemental approach when working with students with complex needs.
  • A passion for helping young people with SEMH challenges achieve their potential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and maintain a flexible, proactive attitude.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
