About Us: Hostelling Scotland is a non-profit charity that provides affordable accommodation and hospitality services to travelers.

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our hostel operations and provide exceptional customer service to our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a team of staff to deliver high-quality customer service and ensure a positive guest experience.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the hostel, including managing budgets, supervising staff, and maintaining facilities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to achieve business objectives and improve hostel performance.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and other relevant laws and regulations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local communities and stakeholders to promote the hostel and its services.
  • Contribute to the development of the hostel's business plan and strategic objectives.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in hospitality management, preferably in a similar environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to lead a team to deliver exceptional service.
  • Strong budgeting and financial management skills.
  • Ability to direct contractors and manage maintenance and repairs.
  • Experience in managing teams and building relationships with staff and stakeholders.
  • Basic Disclosure Scotland clearance and right to work in the UK.
  • UK driver's license and own vehicle.
