About This Role

This position involves operating sophisticated CNC machine tools in the manufacturing department, specifically for Screw Compressor Casing production. The main responsibilities include horizontal boring, vertical boring, drilling, and marking off on equipment such as MAG and Mitsui with Fanuc control systems.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacture compressor components to precise engineering drawings and specifications to ensure a successful first-time build and test of finished compressors.
  • Adhere to relevant instructions within Work Standard Instructions (WSI's) for the manufacture of compressor components.
  • Comply with all aspects of Chart Industries' Quality Management System, including procedures outlined in Standard Practice Instructions (SPI's).
  • Deliver high-quality components efficiently and effectively while contributing to efficient manufacturing principles.
  • Collate accurate Shop Floor Documentation information, including data within Chart's Shop Floor Data Collection system (SFDC).
  • Provide training support for apprentices and colleagues to enhance skills levels.
  • Interact and respond to various aspects of cost reduction, efficiency, delivery, and quality improvements.
  • Maintain adherence to health and safety standards in compliance with company policy, ensuring a safe working environment.
Your Skills & Qualifications
  • A recognised engineering apprenticeship and relevant qualifications are essential.
  • Previous experience with precision manufacturing is highly valued.
  • Skilled in using measuring equipment to tight tolerances.
  • Strong communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings accurately.
  • Experience in multi-disciplined CNC machining - boring, milling, drilling.
  • Flexibility is crucial in this role.
  • Lifting & Slinging certification is required.
  • Previous experience in rotating equipment is beneficial.
  • General Environmental Health & Safety awareness is expected.
Your Benefits

This is a permanent position working 37 hours per week with a starting salary of £33,500. You will also have the opportunity to earn shift allowance with our current three-shift rotating structure at a rate of x1.33, consisting of early shift (6am-2pm), back shift (2pm-10pm), and night shift (10pm-6am). Additional overtime is available outside the standard shift pattern (all overtime at 1.5).
