Job Overview

This role involves working as a care assistant in a 24/7 respite service, supporting children with learning disabilities, physical/emotional difficulties, epilepsy, or challenging behaviors. The salary for this position is £25,000 - £32,000 per year, depending on experience.

Main Responsibilities

  • Providing support and assistance to children with learning disabilities and associated difficulties.
  • Implementing care plans that promote choice and independence.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Literacy and Numeracy Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Completed Trust Healthcare Assistant competencies within 6 months.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience as a Band 2/3 HCA or equivalent.
  • Experience working with people with mental health needs or learning disabilities.
  • Experience working with children or young people.

Essential Skills

  • Effective time management and prioritization.
  • Competent record keeping skills.
  • Approved physical intervention techniques.

Person-Centred Care Knowledge

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2 or equivalent within 2 years.
  • Care Certificate or Trainee within 12 weeks.
  • Key skills in Literacy and Numeracy Level 2.
  • Successful completion of Trust's full HCA Framework within 6 months.
