Job Description

We are recruiting experienced welders for a challenging role at Devonport dockyard in Plymouth.

You may see yourself working on ships, submarines, or within a factory environment. The ideal candidate will have essential experience of the following:

  • Reading engineering drawings and interpreting work instructions.
  • Being competent in the use of general workshop tools & machinery specific to welding.

Ideally, you will have worked in the marine engineering industry with experience of Royal Navy ships and submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels, or large commercial ships.

Your skills and qualifications should include:

  • Experience of working within a marine engineering environment.
  • Competence in FCAW, MMA, MIG, TIG.
  • Able to undertake regular welding requalification to meet required standards.

The ideal candidate should hold one of the following qualifications:

  • Time served apprentice within the field of marine engineering/naval engineering environment.
  • Indentured Apprenticeship relevant to the role.
  • Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship.
  • Level 3 Engineering qualification relevant to the role.

Contract Details

This is a temporary contract lasting 6 months initially, with an estimated salary of £30,000 - £40,000 per annum based on 35 standard hours per week, additional hours and shifts may be possible but not guaranteed.
