**About the Role:**

The City of Windsor is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join its team in the Pollution Control Department. This is a regular full-time position that requires a three shift rotating and/or single shift basis at the LRWRP and/or LRPCP Plants.

As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, you will be responsible for assisting in the operation of the plant's controls, performing preventative maintenance, cleaning, and housekeeping of all allied equipment and facilities, and carrying out various tests and analyses required to properly monitor and maintain the sewage treatment processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Regularly inspect and monitor plant processes and equipment, making adjustments as necessary;
  2. Record, log, and/or input plant data into the plant record-keeping system;
  3. Exercise equipment, rotate equipment operation, monitor, and ensure correct operation of all plant equipment;
  4. Receive, log, and report complaints from the general public;
  5. Perform a variety of tests and analyses required to properly monitor and maintain the sewage treatment processes;
  6. Start, stop, adjust, control, and otherwise operate plant equipment and processes, locally at the equipment, via relays switches, or through an Operator Interface Terminal, as appropriate;
  7. Assist other Environmental Services Divisions as necessary;
  8. Observe safety regulations at all times and maintain amiable relations with the public and fellow staff;
Requirements:
  • An Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma, plus two (2) years of post-secondary education from a Community College or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency;
  • A valid Class II, III, or IV Wastewater Treatment License in accordance with Regulation 129/04 under the Ontario Water Resources Act;
  • Ability to pass Ministry of Environment Certificate examinations to progress to a Class IV Certification in Wastewater Treatment;
  • A current valid and lawful Class 'G' Driver's License in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act for the purposes of operating a City of Windsor vehicle;
  • Physical demands analysis associated with this job indicates a light to heavy level of work;
  • Must complete a post-offer agility test to assist in completing the position tasks safely and minimize injuries on the job;
  • Must wear all required PPE and be fit-tested to SCBA and respirators;
  • Compliance with Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and associated Regulations;

  • A competitive salary range of $33.41 - $36.43 per hour, estimated annual salary $69,493 - $75,795 based on a 35-hour workweek and 52 weeks per year;
