About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and confident Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead and develop the Novus Learning Support provision at HMP Holme House. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the Prison Education Framework Lot and driving education and skills in prisons.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of education and skills programs for learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (LDD)
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to staff working with learners with LDD to ensure their needs are met throughout their learner journey
  • Conduct research into SEN and LDD, maintaining knowledge and application of government policy and developments within these areas
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and deliver innovative education and skills programs that meet the needs of learners with SEN and LDD
Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant field, or significant experience in the field of SEN
  • Hold an SEN qualification at Level 5 (new standards) or above, or make a commitment to achieve within an agreed timescale
  • Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Significant experience within the field of learning difficulties and disabilities in adults
  • Proven track record of implementing strategy and policy relating to learning difficulties and disabilities
  • Significant experience of providing training, guidance, and support to delivery staff
