Sensory Support Assistant Role Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Sensory Support Assistant to join our team at a welcoming school in Pickering. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome sensory challenges and fully engage in their education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support for students with sensory needs, helping them to feel comfortable and focused in the classroom.
  • Implement sensory strategies and tools within the classroom, working closely with teaching staff to create a safe and engaging learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to create individualized support plans, tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Help students develop sensory regulation skills, encouraging positive self-regulation and independence.

Requirements:

  • Experience in supporting students with sensory needs or additional needs.
  • Patient, understanding, and empathetic approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or SEN (preferred).
