About the Role

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for a range of statutory children's social care services, ensuring that safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is paramount. This will involve developing, implementing, and monitoring an annual business plan, including effective performance management and identification of risk and capacity issues across the held portfolio of services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor service plans, policies, projects, and frameworks within Children's Social Care, including the interpretation of national policy guidance and application in line with strategic priorities.
  • Ensure the development, implementation, and monitoring of Liverpool's child protection procedures and standards, maintaining consistent compliance and reporting any barriers to compliance or improvement to Liverpool's Safeguarding Children's Partnership.
  • Act as lead representative on various groups/panels both locally and regionally, actively involved in the work of Liverpool's Safeguarding Children's Partnership.
  • Chair the Legal Gatekeeping Panel, making decisions as to whether a child should enter pre-proceedings or whether care proceedings should be initiated, and hold regular reviews of cases within pre-proceedings ensuring that set timescales are adhered to.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the drive and passion to deliver excellent services and continuously improve practice quality and standards, ensuring a positive difference and brighter future for our children and young people and their families/carers. A salary of £80,712 - £84,842 and 35 hours per week will be offered to the successful candidate.
