Job Title: Fire Safety Specialist

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service is seeking a highly skilled Fire Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Community Safety and Partnerships department, you will play a vital role in developing, planning, and delivering the Crimes and Consequences Project and other youth-based activities within South Wales.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support and assistance in delivering the objectives of the REFLECT Project within the SWFRS service area and manage administrative duties as required.
  • Organize and supervise activities of teams of young people in various environments, maintaining healthy, safe, and productive working conditions.
  • Ensure close daily liaison with the REFLECT Project Manager.
  • Identify and engage with Youth Offending Teams, Secure Estates, Communities First Teams, the Police, and other external agencies working with young people at risk.
  • Provide information and education to those identified, working to lower the risk of involvement in anti-social activities.
  • Develop, create, update, and maintain a database of groups identified as at risk, analyzing and evaluating work undertaken.
  • Develop new education resource packs.
  • Keep line managers and other practitioners informed on progress of assigned groups.
  • Represent the Department on internal and external committees and working parties of partner organizations.
  • Support Station Managers and external agency workers in identifying groups/areas to target for provision.
  • Be a positive role model for young people at all times.
  • Be prepared to work flexible/unsociable hours.
  • Maintain personal core competencies and help develop those of others where appropriate.
  • Perform other duties commensurate with the post and grade.
Requirements:
  • Attend in-house and external training courses as required.
  • Cooperate fully with any scheme or pilot scheme introduced within the department or across the Service.
  • Implement the principles of the Service's Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policies and Welsh Language Schemes while carrying out duties.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety Legislation/Relevant Service Policies and Procedures, taking reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others.
