Laser Operator Job Description

Ion-tec Ltd is seeking a skilled Laser Operator to join our team in Sheffield. As a Laser Operator, you will be responsible for operating laser cutting machines to manufacture critical parts for aerospace customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate laser cutting machines to produce high-quality components.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections to ensure products meet customer and internal standards.
  • Understand machine parameters and check against data cards to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain a high standard of all fixtures associated with the laser process.
  • Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and maintenance requirements to ensure continuity among work shifts.
  • Ensure products meet customer and internal standards, including NADCAP and AS9100 standards.
  • Perform autonomous maintenance and calibration requirements to keep equipment operational.

Requirements:

  • NVQ/qualification in an Engineering discipline is desirable.
  • Proven track record in a Laser operating position, with a minimum of 3 years' experience, preferably in the Aerospace sector.
  • Trumpf machine experience is desirable.
  • Basic understanding of lean principles (5S) is desirable.
  • Experience of working to production targets is essential.

Working Hours: 37-hour days/afternoons with Friday evenings free.

Benefits: Full benefits package and overtime availability at £23.30 per hour.
