About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Young Carers Support Worker to join our team in Devon. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting young carers by undertaking assessments, providing practical and emotional support, and identifying and responding to child protection issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake assessments of young carers to identify their needs and provide tailored support
  • Support the provision of practical and emotional support for young carers through trips, activities, and residentials
  • Identify and respond to child protection issues and concerns in line with agreed procedures
  • Work with targeted schools to establish relationships and support them in seeking Carers Trust Young Carers in Schools Accreditation
  • Undertake transition assessments with young carers aged 14 and over to identify their ongoing needs

Requirements
  • Experience of working with children and young people
  • Knowledge of the legal implications of working with young and vulnerable people, including confidentiality, safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection
  • Effective and sensitive communication and advocacy skills in writing and verbally
  • Ability to find creative solutions to problems
  • Demonstrates a child-centred approach
  • Proven reliability and professionalism
  • Ability to undertake risk/needs assessments with children and young people
  • Car driver/owner or otherwise able to satisfy the requirements for travel associated with the role
