Job Summary

Owen Daniels Consultancy is seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer with extensive experience in aluminium to join our team. As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for creating design data, including 3D CAD modelling, 2D critical dimension drawings, and early-stage static simulation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create design data, including 3D CAD modelling using SolidWorks, 2D critical dimension drawings, and early-stage static simulation (Finite Element Analysis) to support design decisions.
  • Agree the mechanical, aesthetic, and ergonomic approach with the wider design team.
  • Liaise with Structural and Reliability Engineers to ensure detailed validation of the FEA is in-line with the relevant standards.
  • Develop and maintain design documentation, including design specifications, technical notes, and design change records.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Production Engineering.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a design engineering role.
  • Extensive experience working with aluminium.
  • Possesses a high level of CAD skills, ideally with SolidWorks.
  • An understanding of, and ability to, calculate static and fatigue strength requirements of designs.
