Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Cygnet Appletree, a mental health hospital for women located near Durham. As a key member of our culinary services team, you will be responsible for preparing balanced and appetizing meals for our residents.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist in the preparation of meals, ensuring that all food is cooked to a high standard and presented in an appealing manner.
  2. Perform cooking tasks and other kitchen duties as required, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  3. Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas, and dining room, adhering to strict hygiene standards.
  4. Wash utensils, dishes, and store them appropriately, rotating stock and putting away deliveries in a timely manner.
  5. Maintain personal hygiene to comply with Cygnet standards and food hygiene regulations.
  6. Handle, maintain, and store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures.
Requirements
  • Catering experience, preferably within a care setting.
  • Food hygiene certificate and good personal hygiene standards.
  • Enthusiasm, keenness to learn, and active team membership.
  • Polite and professional demeanor, with a positive attitude at all times.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to liaise with people at all levels.
  • Diligence and pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative, as part of a team, and under supervision.
