Operations Manager

We are seeking an experienced Operations Engineer to join our well-established team in Scunthorpe. Our client takes pride in their products and strives for high standards in their industry. The Operations Engineer will support production and maintenance activities at the Scunthorpe site and its associated satellites, focusing on achieving safety, reliability, and efficiency targets.
The Role
The Operations Engineer will be responsible for managing minor projects, implementing initiatives for cost savings, reducing process safety risks, and improving reliability and compliance. Collaboration with Central Engineering, Reliability resources, and third-party service providers is essential. Key responsibilities include:
- Engaging in site development, refurbishment, and problem-solving as part of the Scunthorpe Cluster Management Team.
- Leading safety initiatives and ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, and company standards.
- Implementing and managing Safe Systems of Work, including Permit to Work systems and Contractor Controls.
- Participating in HAZOP, LOPA, and HRA activities to identify and mitigate major accident hazards.
- Managing process risk registers and ensuring timely communication and implementation of controls.
- Supporting internal and external audits and managing corrective actions from these audits.
- Overseeing the Interlex incident investigation system and managing the EMOC register.
- Facilitating maintenance planning meetings and ensuring timely execution of maintenance work.
- Supporting the development and use of the SAP preventative and defect maintenance system.
- Identifying CAPEX investments and preparing business cases based on plant condition assessments.
- Undertaking site improvement projects to enhance reliability and operational resilience.
- Acting as an intelligent customer for selected projects and supporting commissioning and acceptance of significant projects.
- Identifying and sustaining efficiency improvements in both fixed and variable costs.
- Tracking productivity improvements using required tools.
- Reviewing and assessing annual plant condition assessments and implementing efficiency improvements.

The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of Engineering, industrial or plant industry, with a strong foundation in management. This role demands a high level of precision, expertise, and a commitment to ensuring that the sites stay operational. In addition, the ideal candidate will be competent functionally and technically, possess strong communication skills, demonstrate leadership qualities, develop and train employees, make decisions and execute, be customer-focused, provide process, project, and risk management, and exhibit change leadership and personal development.
