The Role:

  • Responsible for the overhaul of mechanical equipment within a workshop environment, ensuring high-quality results and efficient processes.

  • Perform mechanical fitting, assembly, strip, survey, and test tasks, adhering to strict quality guidelines and industry standards.

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, identify components, and assemble or repair mechanical equipment as required.

  • Maintain a high level of quality and efficiency in all work activities.

  • Develop flexibility in skills to carry out testing, basic wiring, and mechanical fitting tasks.

  • Ensure good housekeeping and adherence to health and safety requirements, maintaining a safe working environment.

  • Complete technical documentation as work progresses, providing accurate and detailed records.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management, contributing to the overall success of the team.

Working Hours and Pay:

  • 36.5 working week
  • Monday to Thursday: 0700 to 1500
  • Friday: 0700 to 1330
  • GBP29,000 to GBP34,000pa (dependent on experience)
  • Permanent

Requirements:

  • Minimum five years of mechanical fitting experience, preferably in rotating equipment (We require experienced applicants from an engineering workshop environment)

  • Ability to work to strict quality guidelines within ISO9001 and RISAS standards.

  • Preferably time-served apprentice trained, but must have relevant qualifications, such as mechanical engineering.

  • A working knowledge of safety systems, such as Risk Assessments and COSHH Assessments, would be advantageous.

  • Experience of Lean Manufacturing principles, such as 5s and knowledge of the 7 wastes, would be beneficial, but not crucial.

  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing requirements.

  • A flexible approach to meet customer demands and contribute to the success of the team.
