About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Engineer to join our team at Barclays Bank Plc. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of our database solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions, driving technical excellence and fostering a culture of innovation.
  • Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management, and task prioritization to ensure successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget.
  • Mentor and support team members' professional growth, conduct performance reviews, and provide actionable feedback.
  • Evaluate and enhance engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency and optimize team productivity.
  • Collaborate with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Requirements
  • Experience as a Principal Level Database Administrator, with a focus on PostgreSQL and similar database technologies.
  • Experience with DevOps automation tools, such as Code versioning (git), JIRA, Ansible, Containers, and Kubernetes (OpenShift).
  • Subject matter expert in PostgreSQL, with a proven record of managing database engineering teams.
  • Cloud experience, including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Experience in system configuration management tools, such as Chef and Ansible.
  • Solid experience with scripting languages, such as PowerShell, Python, and Bash.
