Plymouth, Plymouth, United Kingdom University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust Full time

University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust invites applications for a Consultant Neurologist to expand our neurology services in the regional Neuroscience centre.

The successful candidate will join our clinical team and contribute to developing specialist interests, supporting general neurology and stroke services. We particularly seek candidates with expertise in headache and multiple sclerosis.

Plymouth is a national GIRFT exemplar site for acute neurology services, and we care for more patients with acute neurological conditions than anywhere else nationally. Our department prides itself on providing excellent clinical care, and we are one of only 5 centres in the UK where neurologists also care for stroke patients from presentation at the hospital.

Key responsibilities include participating in the development and medical management of our department, training and educating junior medical staff, nursing staff, and allied health professionals, as well as contributing to regular hospital grand rounds, academic meetings, and clinical governance.

We offer a competitive salary estimated to be around £105,000 - £115,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and location. University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is a people business that values every member of staff and offers opportunities for career development in a progressive working environment.

The ideal candidate will possess MRCP (UK) certification, entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist register via CCT or CESR, and demonstrate ample acute neurology experience and appropriate general training. A research interest and clinical audit are essential, while sub-specialty CCT in Stroke Medicine and relevant courses or fellowships are desirable.
