Director of Sustainability and Policy

Role Summary:

This is a senior leadership position responsible for driving Logistics UK's decarbonisation policy theme forward. The successful candidate will be the owner of this policy area, devising and delivering strategies to achieve Logistics UK's goals across all logistics transport modes.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Policy Development: Develop policy positions and shape campaigns on the decarbonisation policy theme, with the ability to take on additional topics as required.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with decision-makers, including senior government officials and industry stakeholders, to influence policy development.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of policy managers and advisors, providing expert support and coaching to ensure their work aligns with policy theme goals.
  • Member Engagement: Represent member views to a range of audiences, including at Logistics UK events and external conferences.
  • Communication: Produce high-quality reports, consultation responses, briefing documents, speaking notes, and presentations for various audiences.

Requirements:

  • Education: Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Communication Skills: Persuasive and articulate communication skills, both written, verbal, and using presentations.
  • Experience: Experience working on environmental and sustainability issues, particularly in transport. Policy experience in a relevant business area, agency, trade association, government department, or public body is an advantage.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel regularly, as required, to fulfil the responsibilities of the role.
