ESG Sustainability Strategist

As a key member of the Bank of China London Branch and UK Subsidiary, the Vice President – ESG will play a pivotal role in driving the bank's sustainability agenda forward. This is a full-time permanent position that requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of sustainability trends, frameworks, and best practices within the Financial Services sector.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the ESG working group to develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy aligned with the bank's vision, mission, and values.
  • Identifying and prioritizing key ESG issues relevant to the bank's operations and stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability considerations into business decision-making processes, products, and services.
  • Developing and monitoring sustainability performance metrics, targets, and reporting mechanisms to track progress and ensure accountability.
  • Staying abreast of emerging sustainability trends, regulations, and industry standards, and advising senior management on their implications for the bank.
  • Cultivating relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, investors, NGOs, and industry associations to advance sustainability goals and initiatives.

Requirements for this role include:

  • A degree in business, finance, accounting, administration, economics, or a related field.
  • Comprehensive understanding of ESG, green, and sustainable finance.
  • Solid work experience in a major international banking group.
  • Relevant professional qualifications considered preferable.
  • Excellent management and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced business environment.
  • Able to multi-task and work to tight deadlines.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Excellent communication skills.
