We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Civil Engineer to join our water design team in the UK. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality designs for water-related projects, working closely with clients and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design and delivery of water infrastructure projects, including non-infrastructure projects, from conception to completion.
- Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues, including mentoring and developing others.
- Work collaboratively with project managers to clarify project briefs, agree deliverables, and establish project checking and approval arrangements.
- Undertake significant elements of detailed design and checking of outputs, including calculations, drawings, sketches, and reports.
- Assess, document, and communicate design changes to project managers.
- Take personal responsibility for delivering projects to agreed time, cost, and quality requirements.
- Attend close-out meetings and recommend improvements to policy, processes, and project management methods.
- Contribute to business development activities, including assisting with the preparation of capability statements and the submission of pre-qualification questionnaires, expressions of interest, and tenders.
- Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution, such as the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).
- Strong interpersonal and team working skills, with a good working relationship with all levels of the organization, clients, and contractors.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience of water and wastewater non-infrastructure design, including an understanding of the basics and the integration of multidisciplinary elements, such as process engineering and MEICA.
- Extensive experience in design, contract, and tender preparation, tender assessment, and contract administration.
- Experience of mentoring and developing others.
