Job Title: Teaching Support Assistant

Job Description:

The Supply Desk is working in partnership with a good-rated school in the Hemel Hempstead area, providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for children. The school is seeking an excellent support member of staff to assist students, particularly those with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). These students may have lower attainment levels, difficulty with literacy and numeracy, and social skills challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students with reading, writing, and numeracy skills
  • Providing a positive learning atmosphere
  • Managing challenging behaviour in support of the class teacher
  • Collaborating with the teacher to create and deliver activities
  • Recording students' progress and feeding back to the teacher
  • Tutoring on a 1:1 or small group basis

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with SEN or a willingness to develop skills
  • Good knowledge of SEN and a passion to develop
  • Able to manage challenging behaviour
  • Able to commit to working fixed days
  • Has a clear and valid DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one
  • Relevant training to support students with learning difficulties
