About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team. As a Senior Building Physics Specialist, you will play a key part in the sustainability team and will have the opportunity to lead projects and mentor junior team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead building physics aspects of projects, including dynamic thermal modelling, energy analysis, and daylight simulations.
  • Develop and implement innovative, sustainable design strategies to optimise building performance.
  • Conduct detailed energy performance assessments, including Part L compliance, TM54 operational energy analysis, and BREEAM evaluations.
  • Provide expert advice on building envelope performance, natural ventilation, and indoor air quality.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to seamlessly integrate building physics solutions into MEP designs.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and present findings to clients and project stakeholders.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering professional growth and development.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Building Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards Chartership with a relevant professional body (e.g., CIBSE, IMechE).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in building physics engineering, ideally within an MEP consultancy environment.
  • Proficiency in thermal modelling software (e.g., IES VE, TAS, DesignBuilder) and other relevant analytical tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK building regulations, standards, and sustainability certification schemes (e.g., BREEAM, LEED, WELL).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and a strong track record of successful project delivery.

You will be expected to run your own projects, working through the RIBA stages as well as working as part of a larger team. The office has a relaxed, flexible culture and regular social incentives take place.
