Mental Health Support Assistant

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our team at Protocol Education Ltd, working with children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a primary school in SN5.
The school provides alternative provision for students with complex needs, and as a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting their SEMH and SEND specific needs, well-being, and academic abilities in a structured and adapted curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
• Work closely with the staff team, including teachers, to contribute to student EHCPs and individual needs academically and socially
• Plan and deliver interventions alongside the teacher
• Support in managing pupil behavior and ensuring a positive learning environment
• De-escalate situations within the classroom, adhering to safeguarding procedures
• Report any safeguarding concerns using the school's referral procedures and safeguarding policies
Requirements
• Previous experience in a school setting or a supportive role, such as a youth worker, teaching assistant, or carer
• Ability to work with students with SEMH and SEND needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Enhanced DBS check and subscription to the DBS Update Service
