About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. As a key member of our Haematology and Blood Transfusion Laboratory, you will be responsible for performing a range of laboratory tests and procedures to ensure the highest standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and specialist procedures in the Haematology and Blood Transfusion Laboratory, including the handling of specimens and maintenance of equipment.
  • Undertake a range of laboratory tests autonomously, demonstrating a strong understanding of the scientific basis for tests and disease processes.
  • Use the main laboratory computer system in accordance with service requirements, ensuring accurate and efficient data management.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory, including the movement of loads and assistance with physical tasks.
Requirements
  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
  • Completed registration portfolio or equivalent
  • Experience of working in a Clinical Pathology laboratory as a BMS
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation pertaining to clinical laboratories
  • Understanding of factors affecting laboratory quality
