About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our team at Gallagher, responsible for delivering profitable premium and conversion growth across our Professional Indemnity book. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will work closely with our Managing Director to develop and implement our underwriting strategy, driving business growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite and assess risk, adhering to our underwriting philosophy, rules, and guidelines, using rating tools and pricing methodologies to maximise business growth and profitability.
  • Actively participate in seeking new business opportunities within existing relationships and within the wider insurance market.
  • Engage with brokers in servicing and renewal of the existing book, supporting our underwriting strategy and contributing to business growth and target loss ratio.
  • Take underwriting referrals, providing expert underwriting guidance, coaching, and mentoring to less experienced underwriters, helping them build product-specific knowledge and sales skills.
  • Develop and maintain strong broker relationships across regions, contributing to our team's goal of writing a sustainable portfolio of professional indemnity business.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise processes and enhance overall efficiency.
  • Analyse market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to identify opportunities and threats.
About You

We are looking for an experienced Underwriter with a strong background in professional indemnity underwriting. You will have a working knowledge of the local insurance marketplace and be able to demonstrate an ability and desire to learn about our enterprise and business unit critical business issues and financial drivers.
