Job Description:

Senior Engineer - Cooling Water Island

We are now recruiting for an exciting role in our Cooling Water Island project, which requires a Senior Engineer with a strong background in civil and structural engineering. As a member of our team, you will contribute to the development of fully integrated technical solutions and governance of large earth retaining structures, tunnelling, water retaining structures, shoreline structures, and offshore structures.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Technical leadership of the design of retaining, deep shaft, and tunnel and offshore structures
  • Management of engineers within the team, demonstrating the validity of technical solutions developed under their direction
  • Delivery of a robust design and safety justification
  • Integration of civil and structural design solutions into the overall plant design
  • Resolution of engineering problems within the scope of the role


Required Skills and Qualifications:


  • Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer or equivalent experience
  • Strong technical leadership skills, with experience of leading civil and structural engineering teams on infrastructure projects
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience of working with nuclear safety cases and the role of engineering in their production (desirable)


Benefits:


  • Salary of £48,000 - £62,000, depending on experience
  • Performance-related bonus of up to 12.5%

About the Role:

This is a rare opportunity to work on a once-in-a-career project, contributing to the development of a new type of power station. As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design of retaining, deep shaft, and tunnel and offshore structures, and will work closely with the safety case team to develop civil and structural design substantiation.
