Cloud Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Operations Specialist to join our Research and Development team in Derry, Northern Ireland.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing cloud-native applications and services, as well as participating in the architecture and development of scalable, secure, and efficient cloud-based systems.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and talented software developer to work on cutting-edge cloud-based solutions, contributing to the innovation and growth of our product portfolio.

About the Role

  • Collaborate with the R&D team to design, develop, and implement cloud-native applications and services.
  • Participate in the architecture and development of scalable, secure, and efficient cloud-based systems.
  • Assist in writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, with a focus on cloud environment (e.g. Azure and AWS).
  • Work with DevOps tools to manage and monitor cloud infrastructure and application performance.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
  • Assist in documenting technical specifications, user guides, and other related materials.
  • Participate in Scrum meetings with other team members including sprint planning and estimating; backlog refinement; daily Scrum meetings; sprint retrospectives and sprint reviews.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in software development in a commercial cloud development environment.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS.
  • Strong coding skills in multiple languages, one of which must be C#.
  • Cloud Development Experience with ASP.Net Core, Latest .NET Technologies and microservices is essential.
  • Solid understanding of Cloud Service Architecture in Azure; however, any AWS knowledge is also beneficial.
  • Exposure to CI/CD tools and processes in Azure DevOps.
  • Experience of working with containerization technologies like Kubernetes and Docker is a plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills, working with a broad range of people, including Product Owners, Testers & Product Support across sites.
  • Able to take direction and seek help from senior colleagues.
  • Positive approach to problem solving with a 'can do' attitude.
  • Experience of using Agile methodologies.

Hiring Process

We offer a competitive salary of approximately £45,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as a range of benefits including flexible working options, BUPA private medical, pension scheme with up to 9% employer contribution, life insurance, income protection insurance, and 28 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).
