Management Lecturer

We are seeking an experienced Management Lecturer to join our team at GBS Global Applied Knowledge. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering management-related modules to our students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching and a deep understanding of the subject matter.

The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field and will have experience in supervising student work and providing support and feedback. They will also have experience teaching in the wider subject area and will be comfortable teaching distance learning students.

The Management Lecturer will be responsible for developing comprehensive course materials, overseeing student projects, and staying up-to-date with industry trends and advancements. They will also be responsible for attending meetings as required and contributing to the decision-making process within the team.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will be able to work effectively with diverse groups of people. They will also have a firm commitment to personal and professional development and will be able to maintain accurate and thorough student records.

Main Responsibilities

The Management Lecturer will be responsible for:

  • Planning, delivering, and assessing student work, ensuring that all learning outcomes are met
  • Developing, updating, and improving course materials as appropriate
  • Using a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials, including live online learning
  • Attending meetings as required and contributing to the decision-making process within the team
  • Actively participating in staff development activities and peer observations
  • Understanding and keeping up-to-date with student support to ensure our students have the full support and guidance they need
  • Participating in the GBS performance management programme, meeting a range of clearly defined objectives for student outcomes, student satisfaction, retention, and attendance
  • Undertaking administrative duties as agreed with their line manager
  • Taking on other responsibilities as required to support the work of GBS
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An honours degree in construction management, project management, or equivalent, with qualifications at least at Master's level in a relevant subject area and a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field
  • A Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent)
  • Previous lecturing experience for similar courses
  • Experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback
  • Experience teaching in the wider subject area
  • Experience with distance learning and supporting learners both online and face-to-face
  • Professional conduct in all interactions with staff and students
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant subject matter
  • A firm commitment to personal and professional development
  • Attention to detail and accurate reporting
  • Ability to maintain thorough and organised student records
  • Ability to work under pressure, plan, and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines
  • Highly motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-working skills
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people
