About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Private Rented Property Licensing Team in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. As a Lead Environmental Health Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring that private rented properties in the borough meet the necessary standards.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of environmental health regulations and be able to effectively enforce compliance in private rented properties. You will also have excellent communication skills and be able to build relationships with tenants and landlords.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To lead in specific area licensing/enforcement work
  2. To support managers and senior colleagues in training staff, building skills, refining inspection processes and adopting best practice
  3. To carry out onsite inspections of private rented properties to ensure compliance with environmental health regulations
  4. To identify areas of non-compliance and take enforcement action as necessary

Requirements:

  • Degree in Environmental Health or related field
  • Experience working in environmental health, preferably in a local authority setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of environmental health regulations and legislation
