Job Title: Chief Underwriting Officer - Retail

At Munich Re Specialty Group, we are seeking an experienced Chief Underwriting Officer to lead our Retail underwriting activities in Europe, NA, and APAC. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing underwriting strategies, managing underwriting teams, and ensuring the quality of underwriting processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement underwriting strategies and policies for Retail business in Europe, NA, and APAC.
  • Manage and lead underwriting teams to achieve business objectives and ensure high-quality underwriting processes.
  • Collaborate with Global Product CUOs and Global Product Heads to develop new product rates, rules, and policy forms.
  • Monitor insurance market trends and developments to inform underwriting decisions.
  • Coach and lead a high-performance matrix management team of Country Heads of Underwriting.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in an executive leadership position, ideally as Chief Underwriting Officer or Head of Underwriting.
  • Strong technical knowledge of single risk and delegated underwriting in Specialty lines of business.
  • Excellent people skills, including stakeholder management and negotiation.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.
  • Strategic and forward-thinking with a proven track-record of general business management.
