Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Integrated Learning Disability Team in Oldham. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality Speech and Language Therapy assessments and interventions to adults with learning disabilities.

Main Duties of the Job

The post-holder will work in a multi-disciplinary context, providing evidence-based Speech and Language Therapy assessments and interventions. They will be expected to be person-centred, creative, and innovative in meeting the communication needs of individuals, while offering support to families and carers.

Key Responsibilities of the Post:

Undertake complex swallowing and communication assessments to diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.

Develop hypotheses based on assessment and implement Specialist Speech & Language Therapy treatment and programmes of care and discharge appropriately.

Use evidence-based practice to inform clinical decision-making in relation to communication impairments and dysphagia.

Key Requirements of the Person Specification:

Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent.

Evidence of successful completion of post-basic dysphagia qualification.

Previous experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities.

Well-established knowledge of relevant national and local policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines (relevant to the client group).
