Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Actuarial Analyst to join our Ceded Re Data and Analytics team. The successful candidate will play a key part in developing and implementing effective reinsurance strategies, improving our ability to analyze reinsurance structures, and optimizing reinsurance spend in line with our risk appetite.
The OpportunityThis role offers a unique chance to work on high-impact projects that drive business growth and improvement. You will be responsible for:
- SUPPORTING THE CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT OF MARKEL'S CEDED RE ANALYTICS CAPABILITIES TO IMPROVE OUR ABILITY TO ANALYZE REINSURANCE STRUCTURES AND OPTIMISE REINSURANCE SPEND IN LINE WITH OUR RISK APPETITE;
- COLLECTING RELEVANT DATA FROM INTERNAL DATA HUBS AND PREPARING DATA EXHIBITS WITHIN REINSURANCE RENEWAL SUBMISSIONS, PARTNERING WITH REINSURANCE PLACEMENT COLLEAGUES TO ENSURE ALL EXHIBITS ARE COLLATED TIMELY AND ACCURATELY;
- BUILDING ENGAGING DATA STORIES BY PERFORMING MOVEMENT ANALYSIS SINCE LAST DATA RUNS AND INVESTIGATING MATERIAL DEVELOPMENTS;
- SUPPORT POST PLACEMENT DATA CAPTURE AND PORTFOLIO ANALYSIS, INCLUDING SPEND ANALYSIS, COST ALLOCATION AND IMPACT ON PROFITABILITY;
- IMPROVING CURRENT PROCESSES AND DEVELOPING REPORTING SOLUTIONS AND DATA VISUALISATION TECHNIQUES TO PROVIDE VALUABLE CEDED REINSURANCE INSIGHTS AND SERVICES TO THE BUSINESS;
- BUILDING STRONG WORKING PARTNERSHIPS WITH DATA OWNERS IN THE ORGANISATION.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- EXPERIENCE IN THE ACTUARIAL DOMAIN;
- UNDERSTANDING OF INSURANCE AND ACTUARIAL CONCEPTS;
- STRONG ANALYTICAL AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS;
- ADVANCED MICROSOFT OFFICE SKILLS INCLUDING EXCEL AND POWER BI;
- EXPERIENCE WITH DATA MANIPULATION TOOLS LIKE SQL, ALTERYX OR SIMILAR.
