London, Greater London, United Kingdom Every Cure Full time
Every Cure: Unlocking the Potential of Existing Medicines

We are Every Cure, an AI-driven nonprofit biotech organization dedicated to repurposing existing drugs to treat patients suffering from diseases without approved treatments. Our mission is to provide affordable and accessible therapies for those in need.

Job Description:

The Data Scientist at Every Cure will play a critical role in applying large language models (LLMs), transformers, and cutting-edge machine learning methodologies to support downstream validation in drug repurposing predictions. The successful candidate will collaborate with data engineers, clinical scientists, tech translators, and business leadership to develop, implement, and validate advanced models and algorithms aimed at transforming drug discovery and repurposing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Innovate: Apply transformers and advanced NLP techniques in the context of biomedical knowledge graphs, clinical data integration, and drug-disease link predictions.
  • Collaborate: Partner with clinical scientists, business leaders, and fellow data scientists to translate research challenges into scalable and actionable data science solutions.
  • Optimize: Support downstream validation efforts, ensuring model outputs are biologically sound and align with clinical data. Iterate on models to improve performance and reliability.
  • Grow Together: Contribute to and grow with a team of expert data scientists, continually expanding your technical skills and soft skills, while fostering open, transparent feedback across the organization.
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, or a related field, with 3+ years of relevant experience OR a Graduate degree in these fields with 0-3 years of experience.
  • Strong background in machine learning, including deep learning, and transformer models in life sciences preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with transformer and foundation models, and the ability to handle large datasets and relational databases.
  • Strong expertise in the application of LLMs for biological data, with a focus on downstream validation and drug discovery workflows.
  • Familiarity with drug repurposing or biomedical knowledge graphs (e.g., using approaches such as GraphSAGE, and query languages like Cypher) is a strong plus.
  • Experience using large-scale data frameworks and machine learning toolkits such as PyTorch, HuggingFace, and proficient in Python.
  • Strong coding standards, including adherence to best practices such as proper documentation and efficient resource usage.
Salary and Benefits:

This role offers a competitive salary of £70,000 annually, based on experience, as well as comprehensive plans with medical, dental, and vision coverage administered by Bupa. A pension plan with an employer match of 3% helps you save for your future, and generous time off, including paid holidays.

About Us:

We are a dynamic and innovative organization committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of patients worldwide. Our team is passionate about unlocking the full potential of existing medicines to treat every disease and every patient we possibly can.
