Sustainability Role Overview

We are looking for a Sustainability Assistant - Supply Chain to join our team at Next. This role is focused on driving sustainability initiatives across our supply chain, focusing on supplier onboarding, engagement, and impact reduction.

This role reports to the Sustainability Team, which covers all aspects of Environmental Sustainability, working across various brands and partners.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Ensure alignment with corporate sustainability goals and industry best practices.
  2. Update and manage relevant data from internal and external platforms to integrate sustainability metrics into the business.
Key Objectives
  1. Support the line manager in expanding and implementing the NEXT Textiles ZDHC programme, including leather tanneries and synthetic leather manufacturers.
  2. Liaise internally and externally to support ZDHC implementation.
  3. Manage data uploads and analysis from the ZDHC Gateway.
Initiatives and Projects
  1. Develop and lead supplier training initiatives, including online webinars and workshops.
Strategy and Collaboration
  1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance the water strategy.
  2. Identify and implement water conservation initiatives across the supply chain.
  3. Work closely with the wider Sustainability team and NEXT Code of Practice team.
Metrics and Monitoring
  1. Contribute to the Environmental Impact Reduction Programme by identifying opportunities to lower carbon emissions and reduce waste.
  2. Assist in monitoring and reporting on impact reduction metrics.
Requirements
  1. Experience in supply chain management with a focus on sustainability.
  2. Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead and execute programs.
  3. Passion for sustainability and proactive problem-solving approach.
  4. Degree in sustainability, supply chain management, environmental science, or a related field.

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum
