Pertemps Scotland Cost Accounting Specialist

About the Role
- To provide strategic support to the Assistant Controller and finance team in driving business objectives, focusing on output, quality, and cost.
- To maintain and enhance productivity, ensuring schedules and customer needs are consistently met.
- To guarantee timely delivery of products to customers, providing a high standard of service at all times.
- To identify, develop, and implement continuous improvement activities that drive efficiency and excellence.
- To undertake additional duties as specified by the Assistant Controller, contributing to the overall success of the company.
- To maintain and improve the Cost Accounting function, providing management with a timely and efficient service.
- To ensure adherence to sound accounting principles, identifying potential problem areas and implementing corrective measures.
- To maintain accurate costing information to inform product pricing decisions.
- To possess a comprehensive understanding of inventory procedures, supporting and guiding colleagues on inventory processes and enforcing internal controls.
- To prepare and understand variable cost information, distributing it to Operations and Senior Management on a weekly basis.
- To perform Balance Sheet reconciliations and Journal Vouchers.
- To prepare and understand material usage and purchase price variances.
- To provide support to other departments as required.
- To demonstrate a flexible and proactive approach to work.
Key Responsibilities
- To ensure compliance with quality procedures and standards.
- To maintain, achieve, and improve quality standards, ensuring new and modified parts are successfully introduced.

- To conduct health and safety audits, taking necessary actions to improve safety performance.

- To assist the Senior Cost Accountant in setting and achieving targets, maintaining good industrial relations and welfare.
- To ensure housekeeping standards are identified and met, practicing company housekeeping procedures.
- To conduct housekeeping audits, collecting data for performance measures.
- To create an environment of continuous improvement, directing problem-solving activities.
- To develop ideas, suggest, and implement improvements in performance.
- To ensure compliance with holiday procedures, completing necessary documents.
- To maintain production information systems, demonstrating cooperation and openness with the team.

Requirements and Qualifications
- Part-qualified CIMA/ACCA or relevant degree/professional qualification in accountancy.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience working within an accountancy function within a manufacturing environment is advantageous.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to make decisions and apply judgment using initiative.
- Intermediate knowledge of Word and Excel.
- Able to work to tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of internal control systems and procedures.
- Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley is advantageous.
Salary Information
The estimated salary for this role is £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience. This compensation package reflects the market rate for a Cost Accountant in Livingston, considering factors such as location, industry, and job requirements.
