Head of Market and Valuation Risk Management

About the Role:

Deutsche Bank is seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Market and Valuation Risk Management (MVRM) function. As Head of MVRM, you will be responsible for establishing and implementing a robust risk management framework across our global rates business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive risk management framework to identify, assess, and mitigate market and valuation risks.
  • Collaborate with trading and infrastructure teams to ensure effective risk control and robust risk management practices.
  • Interface with Risk Management and Finance leadership, as well as external stakeholders, to communicate risk-related matters and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Lead the second line of defense for market and valuation risk management, ensuring rigorous control and effective communication of risk-related matters.
  • Drive strategic projects, such as Fundamental Review of Trading Book (FRTB), to enhance our risk management capabilities.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of experienced professionals, promoting a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including trading desk heads, risk management teams, and external regulatory and audit stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Proven leadership experience in a market risk group, preferably within a large investment bank, with a focus on rates markets and products.
  • Deep knowledge of risk management principles, valuation controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, organization, and communication skills, with the ability to interact collaboratively with trading staff, senior management, and regulators.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to devise creative solutions to complex risk-related issues.
  • Educated to Bachelor's degree level or equivalent qualification/relevant work experience, with a focus in accounting, mathematical, statistical, engineering, or economics.
