Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist to join our team at the United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This is a pan-trust post primarily based at the Lincoln County Hospital with some duties at the peripheral sites.

Main Duties of the Job
  • The appointee will provide a comprehensive ophthalmic service, supporting the provision of an effective countywide service and contributing towards achieving the 18-week wait across the whole eye department.
  • They will carry out teaching duties as required, take an active part in the Postgraduate Medical Education program, and teach ophthalmic trainee staff.
  • The successful candidate will be involved in delivering undergraduate teaching to students from Nottingham and Leicester Medical Schools, educating nursing staff, and other clinical professions as appropriate.
Person Specification
  • The ideal candidate must hold FRCS, FRCOphth or equivalent qualifications, be on the specialist register for Ophthalmology, and have full GMC Registration (with a 'Licence to Practise').
  • They should also possess a fellowship in Paediatric or Cataract (or a subspecialist interest that complements the department) and relevant higher degree or equivalent.
  • Maintaining their own education to a minimum standard set by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and showing commitment to continual learning is essential.
