About the Role

We are seeking a Financial Reporting Director to provide strategic leadership to our Investment Accounting and Reporting team. This role is crucial in managing the investment accounting and reporting for our group's investments under IFRS and Solvency UK.

The successful candidate will have a commercial understanding of the investment portfolio, including financial assets, derivatives, and repurchase transactions, as well as associated financial accounting processes and methods.

As we embark on an ambitious growth phase, particularly within defined benefit pension buy-in/buy-out transactions, this role will be instrumental in driving the effective development and delivery of investment accounting, reporting, and asset valuation processes and controls.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead the Investment Accounting and Reporting team, ensuring timely and accurate management of investment asset information feed into half-year and full-year reporting processes, dealing with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
  2. Establish and maintain high standards of rigor over regular processes and the associated application of financial controls.
  3. Develop and provide investment-related commentary for IFRS and Solvency UK granular reporting disclosures.
  4. Engage and inform senior management on investment accounting matters.
  5. Support Just's modernisation and development programme to treasury and investment operational systems.
  6. Possess further relevant investment or treasury qualifications (or equivalent).
  7. Hold experience in fixed income and derivative accounting at an insurer, bank, and/or asset management firm.
  8. Demonstrate strong knowledge of fixed income assets, derivatives, and repurchase transactions, and associated accounting rules under IFRS and Solvency UK.
  9. Exhibit strong numerical abilities and commercial acumen to perform relevant statistical analysis and calculations.
  10. Show analytical, problem-solving skills, and advanced knowledge of financial controls.
  11. Understand financial and regulatory knowledge to ensure that investment assets and other financial reports are compliant with relevant regulations.
  12. Utilise technology skills to leverage accounting and treasury software to track investments, taxes, and other important data or reports.
  13. Possess knowledge of Oracle General Ledger / FIS Quantum / Bloomberg, highly desirable.
  14. Demonstrate stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capabilities.
