Electrical Commissioning Engineer Job Description

The role of an Electrical Commissioning Engineer is to ensure that all electrical equipment and facilities are installed correctly and safely, and that they function as expected according to the design and specifications provided.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Testing electrical equipment on site
  • Liaising with clients and installation/project engineers
  • Supervising engineering and technical staff
  • Gathering and analysing performance and safety data
  • Writing reports and documentation
  • Training maintenance and operative staff
  • Testing and commissioning distribution systems up to 132kV
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Extensive experience of Commissioning complex HV Systems in a Live Open Busbar environment
  • Good knowledge of secondary and primary injection methods, CT's and VT's testing, functional checks, hard wire or fibre optic intertrips, DNP3 and 10pair hard wired communication, SCADA check to the Customer Control Room, on load checks and tests DEF, DOC
  • Very good knowledge of computer hardware and software, including Microsoft office package, Omicron, Omicron CT's analyzer, Redysip Evolution, DIGSIM, Micom S1/Studio/Agile, SFTV T100 for SCADA RTU's
  • Very good manual skills, wiring and fitting skills, electrical and mechanical fault finding
  • Commercial awareness
