About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Blood Transfusion Practitioner to join our team at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Hospital Transfusion Team and Hospital Transfusion Committee, you will play a vital role in promoting safe and appropriate transfusion practice throughout the Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement changes to regulations, guidelines, procedures, and policies to improve safety and effectiveness in transfusion practice.
  • Lead on learning outcomes and act as the key link in the trust with training and development of Blood Transfusion.
  • Investigate transfusion incidents, create reports, and implement actions based on root cause analysis.
  • Work autonomously and as a team member to develop protocols for patient management during transfusion.
  • Develop, use, and provide training in Electronic Patient Record (EPR), Laboratory Information Management (LIMS), and Blood tracking/tracing IT systems.
  • Attend Local and regional transfusion Committee meetings.
Person Specification

We are looking for a Biomedical Scientist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council, with a Master's Degree or equivalent experience. You will also have a working knowledge of laboratory/hospital information and management computer systems, problem-solving skills, and experience in training multiple staff groups.
